Put The Fun Back In Raisin Mutual Funds

By Debra Edwards

There is the expression, there are many ways to skin a cat. The same is true for fundraising for a worthy cause. The sky is the limit when it comes to collecting money for charity or Mutual Funds, whether this is through a book sale, or through holding a bingo evening. It is surely time to put the zing back into how money are raised for good causes.

Everyone has old books they no longer read or want to hold onto and these can be pooled together, to create a book sale of books covering a range of genre, from adventure to cookery books, and from new releases to valuable, antiquated books of yesteryear. Why not do a spring clean and invite friends and family to do the same.

Have a designated area for boxes and baskets of unwanted items to be placed. All donations can be brought together and be ready to be sold. Market your sale, invite your friends and the greater community to visit your sale and partake in something for the good of others.

All you need to put together a jumble sale is your front yard and a few items to sell. But if you are willing to put in some extra effort and get your hand dirty. Organise a car wash butt before considering this option think about possible water restriction in your area due to drought and other water issues. A car wash is ideal as no one is opposed to having a squeaky clean car for a small fee. Food is also a good way to get people excited, maybe have a tea garden or food stall on site so your community can get a refreshment while they wait for their cars, this is also a good way to raise extra money.

If you really want to get active, an idea is to hold a fun run or aerobics marathon, through gaining participation from a gym or sports club. You should find people sponsor participants and create participant sponsorship forms. Or you can keep it simple and host a fun run, marking out a relatively easy route and inviting everyone to join for a morning outdoors.

Why not hold a dog walk and encourage participants to bring their dogs on leashes for the occasion? In such an instance, you can charge per dog per walk, and even have a competition for the best-dressed dog (something fun to raise money for your charity of choice).

Pets are peoples weakness. Why not use this for more fun. Host a pet show, in which you invite your community to register their pets for a fee, then give them an opportunity to show off their pet, you could also have a collection plate circulating during the show.

You can ask stores to support your charity drive and place the tin near to their check-out counter or even get friends and family to take along a tin to either school or work. Raising money for charity purpose should be a fun experience and one which brings everyone together to create memories which will last long after the cheque has been handed over to your chosen charity.
