Voting In The 23rd Congressional District Elections

By Thomas Nelson

A person is expected to get educated, to go to school and earn at least a high school degree, if not go to college and then graduate school. During all of this, they are also supposed to find love, and while attitudes are rapidly changing in the developed world, the object of their affection is supposed to be someone of the opposite gender. This romantic relationship is supposed to blossom into marriage. The marriage is then ultimately supposed to lead to a life together, a life that includes children. But those are not all the expectation hoisted upon an individual. A truly responsible person shall also perform their civic duty and vote in things like the 23rd congressional district Texas elections.

Humans are social animals. This means that for the most part, they live in communities around other members of their species. A typical community will be composed of several families. Those families will be bonded to other families, either by marriage, blood, friendship, or through work.

There is a reason that leaders are needed. The fact of the matter is that individuals may not have the best interests of the whole in mind. This is because for a lot of people, their own personal needs must come before those of anyone else. So they do not know any better. A leader is supposed to know better.

Democracy is a system in which that leader comes from the people. The idea behind it is that the candidate who wins the office will be more in tune with the struggles of everyday living. This supposed affinity for struggling thus makes a person better qualified to leading the people, the ones who are engaged in the struggle.

But in some places, an individual must declare that they are ready to vote. This usually happens at certain times of the year. A person generally has to be eighteen, or at least will turn eighteen before the day the ballots are cast.

The people who want to be leaders are just that. People. As such, they are susceptible to the same shortcomings as anyone else. But the nature of the office they seek means that their shortcomings will have much more dire consequences that the failings of the average citizen.

During the course of campaigning for votes, a candidate will wax poetic about the issues facing their community of potential voters and how they intend to handle them. They are going to sound slick and educated, enough that small minds will be easily swayed. But doing a little due diligence will reveal which candidate is best equipped to fix all the ills.

The most important step in doing a civic duty is to actually show up. Yes, the lines are long and no one likes waiting in them. But leaving the line can result in more than just not getting a cup of coffee.

There are shot callers in society. They can be born into power. But they can also be elected into it.
